BR 57601 leaves Bristol Temple Meads on 19/07/2001.

When it arrived earlier this year from Brush in Loughborough, the majority of the comment about 57601 was centered around the unique livery it carries, however it seems to have been a success and, apparently, First Great Western are very happy with it. Commonly known (as are all 57s) as a "bodysnatcher" 601 stills retains the outward appearance of its donor 47825 (well known for its combustible nature), but inside it now houses a GM 12-645 engine (the same engine as an Irish Rail 071) instead of the Sulzer 12LDA28C it was built with. It is seen here passing the now derelict remains of Bristol Bath Road depot.
