SNCB 2801 stands in the dump at Ronet on the 23rd May 2000, with sister 2802 behind and 5317 beyond that.
The class 28s survived for many years as ECS engines at Bruxelles Midi, but were finally withdrawn in 1996. The third member of the class, 2803, suffered a fire in 1988 and was withdrawn in 1992
