SNCB 5111 stands at Eeklo on the 24th January 2002.
The class 51s have seen dwindling use on passenger diagrams in recent years and the number of booked turns has now reduced to just one, used to maintain driver knowledge in the Gent area. This turn takes a loco to Eeklo 3 times in the evening and then to Geraardsbergen, where it lays over and returns the following morning, going to Ronse and back to Geraardsbergen before returning to shed mid morning.
This means you can still do all of the Gent area diesel lines with a 51, and may even be the last remaining loco hauled diagram to Eeklo, as class 41 units have taken over the other turns, with just the occasional 62 working.
